Morning Dose Of Maca

Share Shop

Most mornings begin with warm water and lemon, meditation and then some sort of creamy delicious drink that I broadly refer to as an elixir. Having a plethora of herbs, powders, tinctures, dried berries, and seeds in my pantry I have a fun time creating all sorts of recipes that get me going depending upon my mood, activities or my body temperature (note to self turn on the heat before bed.)

Maca root powder is a one of those ingredients that I pull out from time that I should use more often. It has a naturally warming, spicy profile to it as the South American root from which it is derived is in the radish family.

Maca is adaptogenic to the bodies deficiencies, it has a powerful vitamin and mineral content being especially valuable for its B12 which is difficult to obtain through diet as a plant-based eater. In the Andes region of South America, maca is used as a natural source to boost fertility in men and women, increase vitality, cognitive function, balance hormones and help with symptoms related to menopause and depression. Clearly there are so many reasons that everyone should be adding maca into their lives.

I absolutely love making this maca drink recipe. It can be served hot or chilled over ice. Either way it is refreshing, surprisingly spicy and super beneficial! Enjoy with love!
