Intimacy is extremely important for our mental and spiritual health, therefore, keeping in touch with family and friends daily is key and not only during delicate times. It is also imperative to consume nutritional foods that help boost our immune system (organs that keep us going) and we can do so by increasing our intake of foods that contain vital nutrients such as- Probiotics, Antioxidants, Zinc, Vitamin C and Garlic.

Probiotics (pre, post, and probiotics I prefer):

They help keep the flora in our gut healthy. The microbes, for a healthier microbiome (viruses can attack the gut). Probiotics give our gut good bacteria. It helps with pathogens, allergens, triggers, and irritants. It can also help with immune health. I believe it’s so important and a must for proper gut health and support. Eating fermented foods like Miso, Sauerkraut, and/or Kimchi are ways to add healthy probiotics to your diet as a meal or as a side dish.

Antioxidants:

It can possibly help protect us from things like free radicals (cause damage to our cells, cause illnesses and aging)-radiation-and stress, while also protecting our cells.

Here are a few foods with antioxidants:

Raspberries, Blueberries, Strawberries, Beans, Kale, Beets. Make a smoothie, or eat a bowl of cleaned berries or roast some beets. Yum.

Zinc:

An essential trace mineral needed to maintain health, it is a nècessitè. (Trace meaning requiring a bit of the specific trace mineral, there are over 10 of them). It may help support our immune system. It is also known to help with sleep, memory, cognitive and some say provide clearer dreams.

Below are a few foods you can eat to get your daily dose of zinc:

  • Ginger Root (Boil and make as a tea and sip throughout your day)
  • Seeds
  • Whole Grains
  • Poultry

Vitamin C:

A nutrient found in some foods that may boost our immune system and possibly help the body fight infections and repair body tissues.

Below are a few foods you can eat to get your daily dose of vitamin c:

  • Kale
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Oranges

You may already have some of these foods fresh in your kitchen, if not, remember, frozen is better than nothing.

Garlic:

This baby comes with a smell but embrace the benefits. Garlic has been known to help with cardiovascular health, high blood pressure, provide antioxidants and one of my personal favorites, the antiviral and antibacterial properties that may help with certain viruses and bacteria. Eat RAW 1 or 2 cloves daily (Not the entire big round bulb, a clove of the bulb). Eat it raw, if you cannot do raw, roast it, (which I do sometimes) for 1-minute max. If you over roast it, then you may kill the health benefit that it offers. It’s like cooking your veggies, don’t overcook it or you will cook out all the beneficial nutrients and then you’re just eating it with the absence of nutritional value it offers you.

Enjoy, give thanks, and be grateful for each bite.

Of course, be mindful and cautious and always check with your healthcare practitioner if you’re taking any medications, blood thinners, etc… before trying anything new or suggested. This is no guarantee that you won’t catch a cold, flu, virus, illness or disease. This is all mindful precaution.

Much love, great health, and many blessings.
