Founder Friday: Your Organic Home Gift Ideas

Dear nécessité,

Happy Day. How are you? As you know, I love this time of year regardless. Some days when things are challenging, I still try somehow to take the beauty all in. It is simply so festive and feels so magical to me. I love it! I like to decorate my home. The kid in me shines more and comes out more. I love when my inner kid comes out to play. Do not let anyone steal your inner child. Bring that kid out and have fun. If you want to add marshmallows to hot cocoa, go for it. You want to go ice skating and take in the holiday lights, go for it! Honor all of thyself.

I also enjoy baking something new, and I love watching holiday movies and preparing for the holidays while also getting ready for embracing the new year. This time of year, I think of others as if it was their birthday, but I also think of me (like I do every day) and our home. I do an end-of-year check-in. It means to declutter, donate more to others, and share the love. I like to prepare our home in December for the new year. Out with the old and in with the new.

I like to share with you here hoping to help you with some gift ideas for you like offering yourself moments to nuzzle up in bed on organic bed linens (do not sleep with pesticides) or a nice cozy robe for you or that special person. Did you or someone you know move recently and may desire some nice new towels? I did not move, but I can use some towels.  Better yet, do you need any need towels? I love using white towels. It makes any bathroom look so fresh and so clean, clean (Outkast) and I do feel like I am in a spa when I reach for that soft towel or robe. I spoil myself rotten in comfort.

I hear you saying, girl, now why must I do Organic bed linens, I am not eating them. Because like our food, if it is not organic, you are inhaling and surrounded by pesticides. Toxins. Yes, it makes a difference. Maybe you or someone you know wakes up every morning with a headache, congestion, sore throat, watery or itchy eyes, itchy skin, or snorting like a pig. It may be because you are inhaling the chemicals used to make those sheets and you are reacting since you are inhaling it all night as you lay there asleep and breathing it all in.  Remember this, if it did not make a positive difference, there would be no conversation here.

Not everything has to be organic. I have organic and non-organic sheets. I prefer to sleep on the organic sets the most. I prefer organic towels, and bed linens. Comforter, pillows, and even my mattress pad too.  Everything is all white.

To me, it is important to sleep in an environment that will not pose threat to our health while sleeping as much as possible. Not only making sure our food is clean and without chemicals, but what we are encountering while sleeping as well. After all, our skin is one of our organs and the largest.

Of course, our world cannot be 💯 organic, germ- free and green every turn. We are not created to be in a bubble, nor do we want to be (I know I do not, I’m a bird and I cannot be caged).

The world is too polluted for that existence anyway. We must learn how to take precautions and add more awareness to make our world not only liveable but enjoyable! You think I grew up on organic sheets, Ummm, never heard of it. BUT do you think my kids did, yes and for the same reasons I’m sharing with you. They also responded by reacting to the environment and turns out they were allergic and sensitive to many things I was bringing in our home and exposing them to, so it led me on a wild healing goose chase (And I do not mean for days, try years). That is why I share this information with you. To only help to shine more light. It is more prevalent today that things are more polluted and tainted, and cotton is not as pure as it once was.

I love the feeling I get laying on my organic linens after I bathed. It’s refreshing. It adds an extra soothing preparation of unwinding and relaxing to me. I must be careful of my body oils at night to avoid bathing my linens down in some great oil. I love my oils, but I also love my linens.

Do you not want to sleep in a bed that is free of toxins? It took me much trial and errors to find out my children were reacting to the chemicals I selected for them to sleep on. I never thought about it. Never knew it can pose a threat or wreak any havoc on inhaling clean bed linens.

Coyuchi is a brand I have bought from such as a few towels, bathrobes, sheets, and comforters, even some of their slippers. Mostly organic. I am always willing (when the wallet says it is ok doing so by all means) to try and share. So here you go….

I hope you enjoy and find some goodies for you or for that person that will love and appreciate the gift of bed linens or towels and more. Thank you for sharing this moment with me.

Say and show it with much love & gratitude. You are a nécessité
