The Jetsetter’s Guide To Lisbon

Cobblestone street in Lisbon
Share

There’s something about Lisbon. From the hilly cobblestone streets, to the incredible tapas, to the stunning views of the sea, this Portuguese city has got everything and more a gal could possibly desire.

It’s not hard to see why so many jetsetters have their sights set on Lisbon. It’s quickly growing into one of the hippest cities in Europe to travel to. The food is amazing, the people are so friendly and kind, and the art is enough to make one’s heart flutter. If you’re pondering a trip to Portugal, Lisbon needs to be top of your list.

STAY

Santiago de Alfama

Winner of the “Best Urban Hotel in Europe” at Condé Nast Johansesns Awards of Excellence, this chic boutique hotel is located in Lisbon’s most historic neighborhood. It is a block away from the gorgeous Portas do Sol miradouro, and the epic views include the river, the iconic dome of the National Pantheon, and the Monastery of São Vicente.

EAT

Time Out Market

A concept created in 2014 by the team at Time Out Portugal, this newly renovated market boasts the best of Lisbon. The best steak, the best hamburger, the best sushi and some of the city’s best known (and longest-running) market vendors of meat, fish, fruit and flowers. 24 restaurants, 8 bars, a and dozen shops, and live music performances. The best of the best.

Da Prata 52

Located right off the Bairro Alto/Principe Real line, Tapas Bar 52 offers a mix of Spanish tapas with a Portuguese flair. It’s slightly pricier than some of the neighboring locales but the colorful ambiance and mouth-watering recipes make this spot a must-stop in Lisbon.

Cervejaria Ramiro

If you want to try Portuguese seafood this spot is legendary. Just make sure that you get there early and be prepared to wait as it gets packed pretty quickly. But the seafood is as fresh as they come and the quality is unparalleled.

DO

Museu Coleção Berardo

Aimed to provide a space for the very best of modern and contemporary art the Museu Coleção Berardo showcases a diverse range of contemporary artists with some of the most incredible exhibits incorporating digital, sound, and graphic elements.

LX Factory Sunday Market

This super hip art center that has become a home to funky restaurants, tattoo parlors, and coworking spaces for designers and artists. They also have a weekly Sunday flea market with vendors slinging vintage and local designer clothes, handmade jewelery, and vinyls.

DON’T MISS!

Sintra

20 miles west of Lisbon lies one of the most incredible UNESCO World Heritage-listed centers. Famous for its 19th-century Romanticist architecture, historic manors, gardens, and numerous royal palaces & castles it is literally like stepping into a fairy tale. It is unreal.
