The past two weeks have been a bit of a temperature rollercoaster here in NYC, shifting between warm balmy days to high-winds and torrential downpours. And, this probably comes as no surprise, the sudden dips in the climate can do some serious damage to your skin.
With temperamental weather at hand it’s pretty likely that if your complexion is not already having a total freak-out session, it’s about to. But fret not, we’ve got you covered.
Exfoliation is key.
If you spent all summer slathering on sunscreens and bronzers, your pores are likely to be at least somewhat clogged. And faded tans can often leave skin looking blotchy, which is not something we’re about. We recommend finding a great exfoliator to buff the dead skin cells away and start the season anew.
Get a reliable moisturizer.
The drier, colder, windier weather is going to start leaving your skin rather parched, so it’s a wise call to swap out your moisturizers. Look for thicker, creamier formulas to add more hydration and stimulate collagen production to get your skin back to its glowing perfection.
Switch your cleanser.
The changing of seasons calls for a switch-up in cleansers as well. We recommend a non-foaming creamy cleanser, to make sure that the natural oils in your skin do get stripped, and adding a hydrating serum into your daily regimen.
Do a hydrating mask.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love a good sheet mask on a Sunday evening. It’s the perfect way to kickstart the long week ahead. We recommend looking for hydrating masks chock-full of plant extracts and nutrients to give your skin an extra boost.
You’ve changed your wardrobe and your diet (hello, pumpkin spice lattes) to ring in the fall, now it’s time to revamp your skincare routine to follow suit. Just a few simple swaps and a sprinkling of nutrients are all you really need to master complexion perfection this autumn.
