Erica Reid presents, Founder Friday: Happy International Women's Day

Share
Dear nécessité,

Happy day, beautiful being. How are you? Did you say thank you for waking you up today? It’s okay; we can do it together right now. It’s never too late. Let’s take this next second to thank God for giving us today, for it is a gift we started our day with. Ready? Let’s go…

THANK YOU GOD for giving me this day today. May you guide me on the path you have for me. Amen. Thank you for International Women’s Day. I thank you for this day as we honor and recognize all women. I use this day to honor myself more, my inner GODDESS, and all the women in my life: mother, Aunts, grandmothers, sisters, daughter, ancestors, Mother Theresa (I have always loved her), friends, and every woman I do and do not know. I love and respect us as women. As I look around when I am out, I love seeing a group of women take time in their day to connect. To greet each other with a hug. To laugh. To commune. To cry. To share.

It is so special to see the friendship of women being cultivated. It is special to me. It is healthy. I smile as I always take it in. It reminds me how important it is to show up for other women and to be supportive. To share and to give some of ourselves to other women. We came from men (I guess that is why the word is women). According to the Holy Bible, we came from man’s rib. I always wonder why we hold real human strength and power. Is that why we can be married (or not), care for our own children and others’ children, create a village, be of the village, nurture our families, cook, clean, work in and out of the home, run errands, get things done and more because of where we came from? Think about it. We, as women, are human machines.

Look at the women’s strength in Africa and other cultures around the world, how they carry their babies attached to their chests or backs while carrying heavy buckets of water on their heads. What man is seen doing as such? I know we are the gift. I know we are the gift to MOTHER EARTH after Mother Earth (Mother Earth is the first gift). Therefore, we are a gift, so thank you for being a beautiful woman.

Be selfless. Be of love. Be of GOD. Do right to others. Have self-love and self-respect. Set high standards for self-work, such as being secure and having high self-esteem. We must always teach our girls, daughters, and those we mentor to aim high. Not cheap. Cheap does cheap. Have your heart right so you can do right; otherwise, know that the consequences will follow suit. When your insides are right, you shine and are beautiful. Not with caked-on makeup and cute clothes covering up. Never too let to improve self. To be better.

To do better. I always have to be honest with myself. It feels good to get those honest moments. That is when I learn more of myself and when I grow. When I improve, do not settle. Be independent. Be self-sufficient. Rely only on the power of GOD, not man, for man was not born with the same strength and power. Imagine if women came from the back scene to the front scene for the world and not for themselves. In America, health care would finally be right. I believe we would nurture and heal if so. Imagine that.

On this day, give a heart-to-heart hug to another woman. Tell her thank you! Tell her she is beautiful. Tell her to keep going. Uplift her. Inspire her. Motivate her. If you’re really for women and all women, remember this: Your actions will be in alignment with your words.

When a girl succeeds, a guy succeeds, not the other way around. Happy International Day, beautiful. I am thankful to you and all my women friends internationally and domestically.

Much love and gratitude,
