Dear nécessité,
Happy Day beautiful. How are you? As for me, I am strong, I am healthy, I am grateful, and I am not going to complain. (I can, but I choose not to). I love, love, love this time of year! One of my favorites. The colorful lights, festive decorations, the smell of Christmas trees, the parties, the decorated block in residential areas, and the extra love and smiles in my home also lights me up. While do I love this time of year, I am not loving these new prices this time of year! I went to the grocery store recently, and I cannot believe the price of this recent grocery purchase.
This expense was pretty much for organic fresh vegetables, apples, oatmeal, paper towel, toilet paper, dried black eye peas, and adzuki beans. (No meat, no cheese- very simple) I was in shock! I felt like an increase occurred while I was heading over to the grocery store. Last week and this week, the price difference was a huge increase.
Oh, and I forgot at home my nécessité tote bag; therefore, guess what? They charged me for the brown paper grocery bags AND the tax on the bags. They doubled my grocery bags too. I was like, seriously!?!? Eighteen cents per bag and 5 cents for tax ‘per’ bag. Oh, and I had to tip the person for carrying my groceries to the car (No, I did not drive). I know, I am not kidding; I was flabbergasted. What the fudge… Are you feeling this increase with me?
This was a conversation among my sister, dear friends, and me on this day as they encountered the same experience and were also in much disbelief. I know and understand it is rough and so challenging on so many levels right now, globally and in our own specific way. It is a different and unfamiliar journey, but it is our journey. Stay the course and stay connected to the source. For me, my source, and my only source, is GOD. Walk by faith and not by sight; stay in faith. Focus only on the positive this holiday season as well.
Make the shift wherever you must make the shift. If you need emotional or mental support, get it, ask around, google it, it is there, please, please, please. Call a friend and say you just need to cry and vent to them. Call the operator if you need someone, please know you are not alone. Go to a shelter, a clinic, go somewhere, do not stay alone. Do not handle it alone, please. Prayer is always available anytime or night, every day, every second, every minute, no matter where you are, and it is free. I wish we were all able to feel and see joy right now, ALL together at the same time. Imagine that for a moment; I see many smiling children as a result.
Here at nécessité, we will enjoy this time of year and take mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional time to heal, honor ourselves, prepare, be with our dearest loved ones, and rest. We look forward to seeing you again in 2023. Thank you for being you, being supportive, and for sharing this journey with me, and holding my hand along the way.
Be safe, be aware, be grateful, be kind, be positive and be love—Happy Holidays to you and your family.
